Under guidance of RBI, Govt to open 7571 small Banks in Tamil Nadu under BANKS FOR ALL scheme.
For every district a Main branch is opened and linked with the remote branches.
This is mainly to develope rural areas, farmers, Small scale industries, Village industries, cottage industries by providing credit for their business developement. These banks carry out all the services which are offered by a normal Nationalised Banks.
In the first phase branches are opened in 4445 villages which has a population of above 2000 and in the Second phase 1676 villages are selected which has a population of 1600 to 2000. In third phase 5895 villages are selected which has a population of below 1600.
These branches are opened within April 30th for the selected 7571 villages.
