Increase in bank deposits of Indians living abroad

Non Resident Indians, deposits increased to 1.338 million dollars (73,590) an subsequent increase of 37% in the current Financial year 2012-13. 
In the previous Fiscal year 2011-12 it was $ 973 billion (Rs 53,518 crore). 
Various banks offer high interest for NRI deposits is considered as the main reason.  
In this case, the value of the rupee against the U.S. dollar is falling, and this intend to Indians living abroad, makes deposits in banks. State Bank of India, provides NRI deposits ranging from 1-10 years is 8.75 percent interest. Deposits of this type carried out under specific period of time, during the fall of the rupee value, to benefit from banks. Currently, the equivalent rate of a dollar falling in value, is 54.50. At the same time, deposit maturity period, the value of rupees to the dollar, has risen to 50 rupees. It makes a gain of Rs4.50 per dollar.  
This makes overseas Indians to deposit their money in banks.

What is Right to information Act?

  • The Right to Information act is a law enacted by the Parliament of India giving citizens of India access to records of the Central Government and State governments.
  • The Act applies to all States and Union Territories of India, except the State of Jammu and Kashmir - which is covered under a State-level law. 
  • This law was passed by Parliament on 15 June 2005 and came fully into force on 13
    October 2005.
  • According to this Indian Citizens can use this act to get information from Central Government and State governments by paying Rs 10 with the application form. 

Now RTI (Right to Information Act) request and Appeal can be filed through Online

Now RTI applications/first appeals can be made through online along with payment gateway. Payment of Rs.10 can be made through internet banking of SBI & its associate banks and debit/credit cards of Master/Visa.

According to this RTI applications/first appeals can be filed by Indian Citizens only for the main ministries/departments of Central Govt located at New Delhi through online. 
However RTI applications/first appeals should not be filed for other Public authorities under Central/State Govt.

GUIDELINES FOR USE OF RTI ONLINE PORTAL
  1. This can be used by Indian citizens to file RTI application online and also to make payment for RTI application online. First appeal can also be filed online.
  2. At present, an applicant who desires to obtain any information under the RTI Act can make a request through this Web Portal to only Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
  3. On clicking at "Submit Request", the applicant has to fill the required details on the page that will appear.
    The fields marked * are mandatory while the others are optional.
  4. The text of the application may be written at the prescribed column.
  5. At present, the text of an application that can be uploaded at the prescribed column is confined to 500 words only.
  6. In case an application contains more than 500 words, it can be uploaded as an attachment, by using column
    "Supporting document".
  7. After filling the first page, the applicant has to click on "Make Payment" to make payment of the prescribed fee.
  8. The applicant can pay the prescribed fee through the following modes:
    (a) Internet banking through SBI and its associated banks;
    (b) Using credit/debit card of Master/Visa.
  9. Fee for making an application is as prescribed in the RTI Rules, 2012.
  10. After making payment, an application can be submitted.
  11. No RTI fee is required to be paid by any citizen who is below poverty line as per RTI Rules, 2012. However, the applicant must attach a copy of the certificate issued by the appropriate government in this regard, alongwith the application.
  12. On submission of an application, a unique registration number would be issued, which may be referred by the applicant for any references in future.
  13. The application filed through this Web Portal would reach electronically to the "Nodal Officer" of DoPT, who would transmit the RTI application electronically to the concerned CPIO.
  14. In case additional fee is required representing the cost for providing information, the CPIO would intimate the applicant through this portal. This intimation can be seen by the applicant through Status Report or through his/her e-mail alert.
  15. For making an appeal to the first Appellate Authority, the applicant has to click at "Submit Appeal" and fill up the page that will appear.
  16. The registration number of original application has to be used for reference.
  17. As per RTI Act, no fee has to be paid for first appeal.
  18. At present, an applicant/the appellant can see the following status :
    (i) Application filed on..
    (ii) Additional fees, if required..
    (iii) Appeal filed on..
    (iv) Replied on..
  19. The applicant/the appellant should submit his/her mobile number to receive SMS alert.
  20. All the requirements for filing an RTI application and first appeal as well as other provisions regarding time limit, exemptions etc., as provided in the RTI Act, 2005 will continue to apply.

World Bank Credicts further Loan amount to India

World Bank has made ​​the decision to provide $ 3 billion to $ 5 billion loan to undertake development projects in India's poorest states designed for the new four-year program. 

Relating to the eradication of poverty in the world in 2030, the World Bank President Mr.Jim Yong Kim said in the meeting that 60 percent of the loan amount is spend on the government's development plans and 30 percent to reach the country's poorest states to undertake developement projects.

Conditions to Private Sectors for Opening a Bank - RBI

Recently RBI gave Green signal to private sectors who are willing to open Banks in the name of their company.
By considering this, RBI guided some new conditions and protocols for opening Banks. 
They are listed under below,
  • The company should have a experience of 10 yrs.
  • They should have a deposit of 500 crores.
  • 49% of FDI is allowed.
  • And 25% of their bank branches should be in village and remote areas.
These are the guidelines listed by RBI. And RBI cleared that those who posses this eligibility conditions can indulge in banking business.

Major Change in passports for Security purpose - No need to surrender existing ones

For security measures, there will be a major changes in photos and address column in passports 
Change of Passports will come into effect from today (11.04.2013). 
Usually, inside the left side of the card, passport holder's name, photo, his nationality, date of birth is mentioned. Similarly, in the right side of the of the card, passport holder's address and  references is included. 

But, in new system, all information in the left side is laminated in the 2nd page. 
Similarly, all references in the right side is laminated in the 35th page.  

This is due to security measures and hereafter this system will be followed and initially 50 thousand passports, have been sent to Chennai from Nasik.

And there is no need for the passport holders to surrender their existing passports and obtain fresh ones from the passport office. Such passports are valid till their expiry date.

Railway Income for the Financial year 2012-13 touches the peak of 1.25 lakh crore

Railway income had a new marginal rise of 19.63% and evaluated to be around 1,24,815 crores during the Financial year 2012-13.

This includes increase passenger income of 11.35% but less than 600 crores which is the predicted amount. The income of goods service had also faced a marginal increase of 23.24% and estimated to be around 85,869 crores and also greater than 87cr which is the predicted amount.

Last yr there is also a straight increase in passenger travel list of 2.35% and this financial yr 2013-14 target is said to be 5.2%.

IT Jobs likely to be decline in Financial year

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) has recorded close to 14 per cent growth in the IT and services sector in the country during the current financial year.

But however, job creation during the year was likely to drop by 50,000—from 1.8 lakh last year— to 1.3 lakh jobs as the previous fiscal witnessed large-scale recruitment on account of filling backlog posts.
 
Due to US backdrop, European breakdown and economic imbalance the rate was affected and it might be recover soon added by NASSCOM.
